Nearly every shop in Nepal gives credit, and nearly every shop tracks it in a notebook that only the owner can read. PasaPOS keeps the same habit, with the arithmetic done for you.
Putting a bill on an account
At checkout, attach the bill to a customer instead of settling it. Their outstanding balance goes up by what is unpaid. Part payments are fine: take what the customer has today and the remainder stays owing on their account.
Who owes you
The Customers screen opens with the answer. Your biggest debtors are listed with the amount, their last visit and a tap-to-call number, with the total owed across the shop at the top. Filters narrow it to everyone who owes money, or everyone over their limit.
That total is the number to read at the end of a month. A shop can have a good sales month and still be short of cash because the sales went out on udharo.
Credit limits
Open a customer and set a credit limit: none, or a set amount. Once someone is over their limit they show in the over-limit filter, which is a kinder conversation to have at Rs 5,000 than at Rs 50,000.
Reminders
Send an SMS reminder from the customer profile. It is politer than a phone call, it arrives in writing, and it works on any phone. Reminders use your SMS credits. See SMS credits.
Recording payment
When a customer pays, record it against their account. Their balance drops, the payment lands in the cash book for that day, and the history stays, so you can see who always pays on time and who needs reminding every month.
