VAT is one switch, set once, and then it follows your money everywhere in the system.
Turning it on
Go to Settings and choose between No VAT and VAT registered. If you are registered:
- Enter your PAN or VAT number. It prints on the receipt, which is the part a customer or an inspector looks for.
- Set the rate. There is a one-tap shortcut for the Nepal standard rate of 13 percent, and you can type any rate between 0 and 100 if you need something else.
- Check the worked example. Settings shows what the VAT comes to on a bill of Rs 1,000 before you save.
Where VAT appears
- Receipts. A VAT line is added to the printed bill. The live receipt preview in Settings shows it exactly as it will print.
- The guest folio. In hotels, the room folio carries a VAT line at the same rate.
- Reports. The cash book and the sales reports keep VAT separate from your net sales.
Things worth knowing
Saving your receipt layout no longer touches your VAT setting. Earlier the two were saved together, so a change to the receipt could switch VAT off by accident. Each setting now saves only itself.
Each shop sets its own VAT status. If you run branches, a branch that is separately registered keeps its own number and rate.
If you register for VAT later, switch it on then. Bills printed before the switch keep the form they were printed in, which is what you want for your records.
